Yes they have had a box in the whole time and spend their time taking the nesting material out of it. They get a varied diet /have a cuttle bone and also a mineral block I have seen them mate many times but even at that would think the female would lay some eggs even with out a mate. Guess they aren't like chickens.

mmm guess maybe is question about time, they say the girls can start to put eggs afther one year old, maybe becouse they are still bit younger? hope some expert can asnwer you

I know from Spain many people stop to breeding becouse the birds dont do or are bad parents..so just lot patiente in the start or in worst case you will need to find diferents partners

yes, the hen can put egg on her own without a boy

By the way you have more birds around? they usually says for have better breeding if can be alone and not see or hear other birds is the best, well not always but just for try...

We purchased our year old female from a breeder who said she would not breed. We just wanted a friend for our little male so were happy to get her. I had my birds together for a year, and stuck a nest box in the cage for the heck of it. They mated all the time, but no interest in the box. Then one day, almost exactly a year later, poof! We found an egg inside the box. They ended up having 7 chicks. Don't get discouraged. Maybe they are just "late bloomers".

UMM well at least that is incouraging. after reading another post here am going to really have to do some checking on green rump verses green female pacific. She has no blue and is abt the same size as the male I have now added hemp seed which a friend told me that for her cocotiels works for laying eggs. We'll see.

2 more ideas:

Type of nest box. My Gracey will not go in one with a round hole as the opening. She has to have the big square opening. (the one that is like a half wall)

Also, nesting material. Gracey will toss anything out that she doesn't like & will not lay until she is happy with what is in there.

Well they will go in the nest box or did everynight until abt 2 wks ago when I put in new and different nesting material so for the last two week they have spent thier time taking out the material. Yesterday the male finally went in again. But they are still sleeping and sitting on the perch going in. Guess it is just a waiting game. But did sort out that she is indeed a female green pacific.
They are also molting right now soooooooooo?
