My 2 week trip ended 3 days early, so I'm back. Froot loop acted like he had no idea who i was...it made me kind of sad. I finally got him to sit with me, but he is not a happy camper with me, and he wants me to be aware of it.

Honestly, my gut feeling is that Froot Loop knows exactly who you are and is very upset and confused. Birds really don't forget, but they can feel neglected and hurt. Try some fun training exercises as a good distraction and fun interaction for the two of you.

Yes, just don't rush him. He will be back to normal soon. Two weeks is a long time. He is confused, you were gone a long time and now back.

I'm sure Froot Loop remembers you! He is probably just upset. I've left Nemo for a couple of weeks before and he remembered me, which proves that they don't forget that easily :)

My cats used to do the same thing. They pout - but forgiveness comes soon with the return of routine. Question: Who was the wonderful person left in charge of your baby while you were gone?

After two weeks alot can happen. My son stayed home for the winter break and was able to spend more time with all of our birds; now my 2 year old Meyers parrot has a new favorite person! Nothing has changed and its almost June! :) Its ok though - I don't mind sharing the luv. Roscoe was a bit clingy to me and now he has more freedom and play options with extra hands to supervise when he's out.

Fruit loop will come around (love the name you chose). He just wants to make you suffer a little bit first. ;)

wiggletail, I left him with my parents...he loved them already, but even more so since I left. I sure hope he comes around. I didn't think he would forget me, but I was concerned since he is still such a young'en.....

I bet things will be back to normal in no time - Froot Loop just needs to get back into his normal routine and all will be forgiven ;)

Don't worry - he's punishng you! My birdie does it when i go on business trips. He won't say any "people sounds" (words) for days (because it pleases me) and he ignores me. Eventually it passes and he forgives me. Just be patient. Your absense was traumatic for him.

sadly, no. He is biting me nonstop. I'm trying to talk to him a lot and be sweet and give him scritches but he just wants to be big bad attack bird. sigh

I'm sorry to hear it. It is amazing the emotional capacity they possess - along with their ability to tug at our heart strings. Keep building that bridge - you'll cross it eventually. Have your folks been around since? I wonder how fruit loop will treat them after two weeks? I dunno. I don't have any great advice for ya. But, I doubt "FL's" attitude will endure much longer. I am very interested to hear about your progress. I've never been away longer than three days, so I don't have much experience to compare. Wishing you the best.
