Over the past 5 months of so I've realized there's alot of flies in my room which is where my birds stay aswell. Last week I realized their seeds has webs in them and I saw a few flies in there as well - threw that out. Now I decided to go through their whole bin(I keep some of there food in a newspaper/magazine type box - you know the ones with no top) and some in a plastic bin storage type of thing that has a lid that locks on and I realized 80% of their foods had these webs, maggets and dead or some alive flies in them. and i dont mean fruit flies, they're bigger and brown, usually the ones u get that are attracted to light - hopefully u know which ones im talking about..
Has anyone seen this aswell? I need help, I'm running out of options. All their food like seeds and pellets are in company baggage where it has a little zip up like ziplock bags, and they're always properly closed...or theyre in a plastic bag(when i buy from bulk stores) which I tie in a knot so it doesn't spill out. Any advice people? PLEASE  I'm getting very frustrated over here...Is there anything I can put near the food storages to keep away these flies? Like how there is those lil balls for moths...? Advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED

As a precaution I put new seed bags right into the freezer before I give
any to the birds so it kills any possible "creepy things" that may have hitched a ride.
Perhaps you have some type of flour moth? they can breed inside packaging
and are kinda hard to get rid of, I've never had to deal with them so I can't
really give you any advice on getting rid of them
hope someone can help you out
just remember birds have very delicate systems
so things put out meant to kill bugs may do harm to your birds
Hopefully there is a natural solution or trap you can try

If you're buying from bulk food store and you don't go through the food quickly, I recommend freezing the food you're not using and only keeping a small amount handy for the birds. Maybe this will prevent the flies/bugs from showing up.

Sounds like pantry or flour moths. The freezer trick usually works.

Thank you for the replies I really do appreciate it!
I just went out and bought a new seed package which now thanks to you guys is in the freezer. I also bought those little fly sticky sheets from the dollar store and placed one about a meter away from the storage box and their main source of light. Hopefully, this new technique I've learnt to freeze will work out...again thank you very much!!! :)

I have never had that problem in my pet bird seed but in the wild bird seed I have seen it. I solved the wild bird seed problem by buying a large cheap garbage can and putting it in the corner of my deck , it has a tight fitting lid on it and I keep my wild bird seed in it. It keeps it handy to the bird feeder and clean and dry. An bugs/flies/moths that are in it do not get in my house and the birds don't mind the extra protein if I do get a bag with bugs....good luck.

After freezing the seed/grain for 2 to 4 days, be sure to store it in an air-tight container. You'll also need to do a thorough cleaning since the moths will have laid eggs and the larvae made cocoons in various places, and those will continue to hatch out.
Once you've frozen the seed or grain, and then keep it in an air-tight container, you won't have any trouble with these moths and their larvae.

I freeze all my pellets and seeds for at least a week. Then I put them in air tight containers. Works great. I've never had any bugs :D

Ditto to above....I freeze ASAP after getting the food. I take it out in small amounts to feed and those small amounts are keep in the frig .....ALWAYS! Have never had a problem with bugs
