Did you wash him well with tepid water and a dishwashing soap, preferably Dawn? Then rinse really well, keeping soap out of his eyes of course. That should get the oil off. A vet check if you're worried about his eyes is a good idea. He shouldn't be ingesting any oil if you washed him well.

I would agree something like Dawn will help break the grease and get it off him. I hope he feels better too!

I agree with the advice posted - dawn is the best way to clean oil off a bird. Keep us updated!

Dawn is the best. Used by animal rescue in oil spills.

I had (almost) the same thing happen to Kiwi last winter, except it was gravy. He always sits on my finger at the edge of my dish for supper and something spooked him and he jumped right in my mashed potatoes and gravy. Of course it wasn't hot or he wouldn't have been sitting there but he was all chicken gravy greasy. Dawn did the trick, but he did look a little worse for wear the next week and smelled so good like I could eat him up LOL!

Blue dawn and rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse!
