Our Parrotlet Sweetie has finally tried fresh food!!!! He ate a little bit of cantaloupe offered by my husband! He is also eating the dried fruit in his seed mix. I am hoping that he will start to try new things now!
I am so happy to me part of this group! What a wonderful resource!

Aww, that's great to hear!
I always like hearing stories about owners and how their bird is finally eating fresh food - sushi and yoshi have been comfortable with fresh food since day one that i've had them :$ i kind of appreciate their appetite more when I hear stories like this...
Have you tried strawberries? Or spinach? My birds go insane for them!
Best of luck

I am so glad i found this site too because if you want to know anything just ask and you will find out sooner or latr. lol Thanks for posting some of the fresh fruit they can eat. They are so many things on the list for them not to eat so it would be easier to find the foods they can eat.
Thanks again i am going to try some of the fresh fruit. Riley did like his brocc. but didn't like the apple.
Thanks again:)

Spinach, along with Swiss chard and beet greens, is high in oxalates which binds the Calcium in the food making it unavailable. It's fine to feed these otherwise nutritious greens in moderation, but I wouldn't offer them daily or as the only green. Kale, collard, mustard greens, broccoli, dandelion greens are all excellent and very nutritious.
