My male bit my females leg today and it seems like a pretty bad cut that hasn't stopped bleeding yet. I'm sure the cut will close up soon but I'm worried that she might get an infection or something. Has anyone here dealt with something like this before?

Please help!

I have never experienced this. How long has she been bleeding? I would clot the cut with cornstarch and call my vet. Birds can die from blood loss quickly. She will need to be treated and maybe given antibiotics.

I would also consider separating them.

To stop the bleeding, like Lola said, use some cornstarch and then SEPARATE these two birds - you dont need something worse happening.

If handable, I would use direct pressure with something. I do this with my tiel when she has night frights and bangs her wings. Seems to be okay after that. Though if you can't get the bleeding to stop, you should go to the vet right away.

I would do like the others said and use cornstarch to stop the bleeding. If you can, take the bird to the vet. a good way to keep the cut clean is with saline solution, just like you would use for your contacts. this should keep it from getting an infection. when my birds beak was broken a couple of weeks ago we cleaned it everyday with saline solution and he is healing very well.
