Age of Parrotlet

Is there a way of telling if a Parrotlet is a baby or not? For example, in a Budgie, they have "baby bars" above there cere. Also they get a white ring (iris) around the eye after six months old.

Parrotlet young have very dark eyes. I wish I had a better age guide, but like right now I have two hens that are maybe 2 1/2 months and their eyes are still quite dark. They also "act" young to me..

The five months olds' eyes have changed already, you can clearly see a difference in color b/t the iris and the pupil.

Any older than that would be hard to judge.

Also most breeders use leg bands that sport the year.

This is true - but for those w/o bands - just some tips!!
We band our chicks, I am a big supporter of this for so many reasons.

Hello. Atlas is banded by AAC but it just says 06 L. is there any way of knowing the month and day too? i want to celebrate his birthday =D His eyes are light...i think.

Contact your breeder, AAC should be the breeder code, plus if you know the breeder they SHOULD hopefully have good records.
