i moved Kobe's fave toy to the top of the sand perch. while he stand on it (sand perch), he rub his beak against it.. well, rubbing their beak is usual, but kobe rubs his beak on the sand perch and i can see his beak had some scratch mark. im worry if he keep on doing this, it will ruin his beak. should i keep the sand perch?

Kobe shouldn't & probably won't ruin his beak on this, its normal for them to "clean" their beaks - I thin its like washing their hands! Obviously if his beak is cracking or something or he inflicts an injury on himself then maybe you should take it out, but it should be OK. Oliver has 2 sand perches and those are kept very busy by his beak!!!

IMO he will be fine but Im not an expert!!!

My parrotlet loves his sand perch as well, and when he first started using it, I noticed some scratches and flakes on his beak too; when I asked the vet about the flakiness, he said that as Herky's beak grows, the new beak material coming in causes the outer layer to slough off (kinda like fingernails). So apparently, the sand perch sort-of helps exfoliate his beak. :) I'm with LovelySydney; I'd just keep an eye on your little guy; he'll probably love using his sand perch!
