I am wondering if you can line a cage with newspaper that has COLORED ink on it. I read that this could be toxic??

I use newspaper, the colored pages too, BUT I have the grate in both cages, so they can't get to it.

Oh i see, so if there is a grate preventing them from EATING it, then it should be fine? There is a large space from the grate to the newspaper so I highly doubt Oliver would be able to get to it. Thanks everyone!!

I have read that the colored inks used in newsprint are non-toxic and safe, and I do use colored (mostly b & w though) newspaper in my cages.

I use pretty paper towels. I put them on top of the grate to keep it all super clean. Chipper never gets on the bottom.

If you have a grate separating, I wouldn't worry in the least. It would be fine. That said, I also use paper towels.
OOH OOH!
I know this one! I usually only have questions, but I know the answer!
A friend of mine works for a newspaper printer. The industry standard is soy based ink! Non-toxic. It's ok if the birdsies chew up colored news print.
