View Full Version : I swam to work today
The floods here are impressive - My normal commute is 15 minutes. The drive took me over an hour to make the trip. Most roads in my area are flooded out with cars stuck in the flooded sections. Nasty stuff!

Be careful! don't you dare cross a road with water over it, it's way too dangerous. Is your home gonna be OK?
Oh Memmey,
Where's your sporting spirit? :D
I actually had to go down an abandoned/long closed road with over a foot of flowing water going across it to get to my office - all of the regular roads were closed and blocked by police. Too bad I don't have my camera!
Ah... the adventures of living in New Jersey, it's not just the Sopranos, it's natural disasters and hospitalized governors as well! ;)
My home is on high ground so no problems but one of my coworkers is now on an island - his house is completely surreounded and the crawl space below is now taking on water faster than the sump pump can pump it out!

Wow Art - its hard to believe its the middle of April. I hear there is more rain than during Hurricane Agnes - thats unbelievable.
Glad to hear you are on high ground - I hope your co-workers place will be okay.
Pado,
We got somewhere between 7 and 10 inches of rain so far. Just imagine if it was snow (multiply rainfall by 12 for snow  ). If you look at the rainfall maps for the east coast for this storm, the area with the most is central New Jersey, right between Philly and NYC. Guess where I am  .
Just another war story to share with others - the great floods of '07...
Now to get my tax extension from my accountant and battle my way home!

I had a little mini-river running through my basement. Sometime last night the water stopped flowing...Now it just smells bad...:(
Art – that is A LOT of rain  but a great excuse for a tax extension
GoingIncognito – sorry to hear about your basement – at least the water has stopped running but what a mess.
