Threat to p'let breeders

I don't know if you guys have been talking about HR 669 but this is American legislation that could make owning, breeding, and selling non native animals (such as p'lets) illegal.

This bill is up for review on April 23 and we need everyone to call or write their reps and let them know not to pass this bill!

If you go to http://www.nohr669.com/ they have instructions on what you can do to keep our pets legal!

THANKS! I sent a letter to my Congressman. This is awful! It would definitely put my local, family owned, wonderful bird shop out of business!

It would put a lot of people out of business, they just haven't seemed to look into the ramifications of this very well. It will also make it harder for us exotic owners to get good vet care...and it's already hard enough as it is! If non natives are no longer captive bred then less and less vets are going to see them.

wow i hope that is not hidden in some other important new act to be passed! i can't see them passing just that though... almost all pets excluding cats and dogs are non-native wildlife in the US... there would be a ton of public outcry...
while i can't see it being passed, at the same time i am hoping it is not!

Well there would be an 'approved' list...but getting on that list will not be easy and even if on the list there will be no transporting them over statelines.

oh soo mean! it's hard to find breeders in mn... that will only make it harder to add to my flock (of 2) in the future!

I read this bill and it makes me very angry. I wish people would really think these things through before they make them into legislation.

Yep, it is crazy. That is what CITES is for! You can call, mail or email more than once too, so lets flood these guys! Mwaahaahaa!

Let's hope this never happens. Our birds are part of our family and we can't let them take our family away from us.
