I am feeding Kirby Volkman's Avian Science Super for parrotlets. He is crazy about the stuff. My problem is that he pretty much ignores everything else. Granted I've only had him a few days but he hasn't touched anything but the seed. I've tried peeled apples, brocolli, strawberries....and he could care less. I've put millet on top of the fruits/veggies and he just eats the millet.
Does anyone's bird have a favorite fruit/veggie?
Oh! and I forgot to mention that I finally got to pet Kirby today! I've been going very slow so I don't freak him out. Hopefully we'll progress to having him climb on my finger within the next few days.

I suggest keep trying on those veggies you are already offering. Don't give up. My young male took to broccoli straight away - He likes the whole flower - he actually ate three in one day! He likes the flower part and the stalk. but, my female - an old gal, who is offered it daily - eats it only once in awhile. They both love carrots. My Boy likes kale and spinach - my female won't touch them.
So, keep trying. Kirby is still young and experimenting new things ....

Try offering the new food first thing in the morning (no food in cage at night), then giving the food he likes at least an hour or two later. Instead of individual pieces of vegetables, try food processing them or finely mincing so the bird can't pick out favorites as easily. I also suggest sprouting first a grain mix, or overnight soaking at least, and serving that mixed up with the vegetables. Then later, try sprouting the recommended legumes. The combination makes complete protein, two parts grain to one part legumes. If you do a search for sprouting, you will find lots of information on the site here

Wow! I did some major snooping on the site today and have ordered a sprouter. I also rec'd a reply from the breeder and she said that he likes brocolli (why he doesn't like my brocolli is a mystery).
And I think Reta also mentioned something very important too....grinding/mincing a combo of veggies sounds good to try.
Thanks folks!

The grinding/mincing works great for my two!
Good luck!
