I am just got my little Pisco Wed. night. He is doing fine and likes his cage. I have not gotten him to eat vegtables yet, but he is eating the seed mixture the breeder gave me. I have been leaving a cup full of seeds in his cage. Should I only be feeding him several times a day? The breeder says he bakes a cornmeal, egg, vegtable "bread" cuts it up in small pieces and give them some every day. Any suggestions or hints would be appreciated.

Hi Peggy and welcome to our P'let site! I'm glad to hear Pisco is making himself at home. As far as diet, you may want to take a look at the diet "sticky" in this forum, and read up on what I consider an excellent diet for parrots, including Parrotlets.

The sticky that Chapala recommends is so helpful. Also, if you'll search other diet thread you'll find other helpful info. Good luck!

Congratulations on your new parrotlet. Post pictures soon. I know you will love it. Baby eats Higgins small fruit and Veggie. This is the primary food my vet recommends for them. I also allow baby to have Carrots . She's a picky eater but loves her fruit and veggie.

Try a tiny pieace of cut up fresh strawberry, mango, apple, or pineapple.
