Hi,
Herbie is currently on Zupreem fruit pellets and I want to move him over to Harrison's, but I can't find them in any stores! Where do you guys order your Harrisons, and what size do you buy?
I also have a Budgie I'd like to get on pellets. Would the budgie be able to eat Harrisons? The same size as Herbie?
Also, Herbie is on Kaytee tiel seed. I want to move him to something better. I have noticed a lot of you feed Parrots on the Porch, or something like that? Do you have a website?
Finally, what is the least expensive, most reliable site you've found for p-let toys?
I'd only like to buy from websites people here reccomend. There are so many bird sites out there, I'm leery of giving out my CC info without a reccomendation.
Thank you!
Steph :)

The Perch store is one that many reccomend. Not sure on the exact URL but if you go a google search it should be the first one that comes up.
I myself don't do a whole lot of ordering online, as it is difficult to find Canadian sites with good shipping. A lot of U.S. sites don't offer shipping to Canada, or if they do, the cost to ship is outrageous.
Luckily budgies and parrotlets typically eat the same size of food, so you won't have to order different sizes of pellets. Odds are if your guy is eating the zupreem fruit blend, he should convert over to a natural one quite well. Jack sure did anyways. And so is my linnie. Both prefer the fruit, but eat the natural garden goodness from Zupreem with contentment. And typically the smallest size of the Harrisons is usually what people feed... The crumbles I think is what they're called. What size of fruit blend are you feeding Herbie? If the parakeet or finch I would get him the crumbles, if cockatiel you could go up a size.
Good luck and hopefully someone else can recommend a good website. I myself don't want to due to the fact that I rarely if ever shop online due to having an awesome bird store outside my town, and numerous bird shows throughout my area with awesome prices on toys. I really have no need to order online.

I believe you can purchase direct from Harrison's. I've ordered from various on-line bird businesses without a problem. Finding one close to you will help keep shipping costs down. The last time I ordered was from bird.com, and they had free shipping for orders of $100 or more. Some friends picked the order up for me in Texas. The price does vary, so it's worth it to check out a few sites before ordering. Some avian vet offices sell Harrison's.
I suggest the Adult Lifetime (regular or Pepper) in whatever size you think he'll like, the next one above mash seems good to me. I actually buy the large size for the other parrots, and just pulse them a bit in the mini food processor for Cello. So, you can make them smaller, but can't make them bigger!
Budgies are granivores and do need grains/seeds in their diets. They and Cockatiels don't do well on too many pellets in the diet.
Everyone just remember that our P'lets still need fresh vegetables and fruits, even if they are receiving pellets. I limit the pellets to 10 to 20% of the diet, mainly so they recognize them as food in case of emergency.

In Canada Parrotdise Perch is good. They have a store in Ontario and one in Calgary, so shipping should be reasonable. http://www.parrotdiseperch.com/parrot/shop_details.php?prod=1134.
I feed Sadie the 'fine' but some here use the 'mash'. Avian vets often carry the Harrison's as well.

Thank you for the replies. I guess I should've added that I live in WI in the U.S.
Reta, thank you for the reminder. Herbie gets a fresh mash twice daily, which contains about 15 different veggies and grains, mostly pulled from your diet sticky. He gets the flax seeds as a supplement. He also eats baby carrots, sugar snap peas or green beans, mustard greens and a few different fruits raw (or frozen) berries keep better frozen. Additionally he gets the seed and pellets (the two items I'm looking to improve here). I generally mix the seeds into the mash, so he's forced to eat through veggies to get to the seed.
Please keep the website suggestions coming!

Thanks for the reminder, Reta.
It's for this reason that Jack and Callie get a heaping portion of fresh foods every morning for breakfast when they're good and hungry.. and why again around dinner I offer them green and red peppers and sprouts. They both LOVE their pellets and seeds, and I think if they had their own way they would both only eat them and no fresh veggies... this is why breakfast is fresh foods with lots of veggies... they gotta eat the food that is the healthiest for them first before they dive into anything else.

I purchase everything for Zoe at Parrot Island which is a huge store here in the Minneapolis area. I don't order anything anymore, as I don't know what the stores are like and how clean they are being that I can't see them for myself. Parrot Island does a huge online business. What I like is that I can go directly to the store, so I know that it is clean and 100% safe to purchase from.
Being that I have been there many times, I can assure you all that it is a safe store to order from. And they do carry the Harrison's line of products. Are they the cheapest to order from? Probably not, but the reassurance I have of knowing how clean they are is worth a couple extra bucks for me. They make the toys they sell, so I know they don't come from other shops that may allow birds in that may be carrying diseases.
Here is their website...

It would really be helpful to start a list here on the forum of stores we have actually been in that also do online business that we know are actually clean and safe stores to order from. For example, any store I order from I would want to know doesn't allow birds or doesn't bring in birds for resale. Polyoma virus is a huge threat to our fids, and it can live on toys etc...so I would want to know that a store I order from does not take in birds to assure that toys I buy for Zoe will be clean.

Most on-line businesses do not have actual retail locations, and are not selling birds. Pet stores are different for that reason.
Grey Feather Toys is a wonderful business, very into toy safety in all the products they make and sell, and do not mix their own three or so birds (Greys) in with the production area. They are the ones that sell the great little SS bucket that is perfect for P'lets.

I buy my online items from http://bobosplayhouse.com/sunshop/index.php?action=adoptable_birds, Sunny, the owner is a great bird person.
