Planning on taking a rather long road trip in Feb down to FL and back
Can anyone recommend a good travel cage that does not rattle and squeak constantly? We will be traveling with 4 adults in the car so size is a little limited....unless we meander some space in the hatchback

We have a small cage that was their baby cage but it is pretty noisy
I would love to be able to keep the birds in it most of the week

Thanks-
steph

I take regular 5-6 hour road trips with my birds. My p'lets are very easy. I have a small parakeet cage from Petsmart that I use on the road. For a week or so, it is not a big deal having them in a smaller cage. My boys do not seem to stress out at all. The only concern with them on the road is water. We use the lick bottles and they leak with the car vibration. My kids just stick the bottle throught the cage every hour or so and they go right to it to drink. My eclectus travels in a bird backpack (http://www.celltei.com/pakobird.html) and we carry a collapsable cage for her. Our roadtrips usually have 2 50 pound dogs (with their collapsable kennels), three birds, 2 adults and our two boys. We pack into a Saturn Vue with a travel bag on the roof and look like the Clampets. Where there is a will, there is a way. The p'lets are by far the easiest of all on the road trips. Have fun.

Wow Adam, sounds like you have a carful!! I agree. A smaller parakeet cage would work well.

The travel cage looks good. I like that the whole end opens as the door, easier to hang toys, put in perches and food, etc. Small for two, but for temporary vacations and birds that are happy to be together, it may work for you.

I liked the idea of the rope perch and the cups look like they will not bounce around too much----

I might just go ahead and order it

Do any chains carry something like this?
Im just concerned with getting it in time

I have a celltei I use for the ferrets and I love it. I wondered though about birds chewing one, even if the mesh is ss, there's plenty of fabric to chew. Adam, is your ekkie a chewer?

Steph, I love that one you posted because you can get a seat belt through it, and the perch top too. I've seen the plexiglass ones, and wondered if it's too exposed seeming for a nervous bird. Anyone have these?

I have a nylabone folding plastic dog one for my U2 and I love it since she likes to be covered in a car instead of where the action is. But I don't think they make them anymore and the air holes would be too big for a p'let.

I ordered it-- will let you guys know how it works out

The clear ones look like there is nothing for them to really grip on
and I wouldn't feel comfortable thinking they might fly into the side

The travel cage arrived tonight---
it's all set up and looks pretty large for a travel cage
they should be very comfortable in it for a week..

my only concern is there was a bottle of touch up paint in with
the screws and it appears to have leaked onto some of them.....
I scrubbed them all down with soap and water and toweled off
before putting it together-- I got rid of the paint
(it was in a nail polish sized bottle) and am airing out the living room as it had a slight odor.....

There is plenty of room for toys and
it came with very secure stainless steel dishes
and a rope perch... I will take pictures
when the boys are able to explore it

hopefully it is properly aired out

any suggestions?

You might want to get a water bottle as I'd imagine a water dish would leak in the car.

They are the deep-- stainless steel bowls-- It's a pretty heavy cage
so I'm not sure if it will be bouncing around much..

Maybe I will take it for a test ride

It's a snowy day today but of course I still have work! NYC schools
never have delays or cancellations :-(
