I have read here that some of you buy your bird's foo from pet stores. The only one close to us is a PetsMart. I have purchased Avi-cakes from them only to discover when I got home that they were a few months outdated. They were very hard- fresh ones are soft and chewy like granola bars. That's the way Paulie likes them. He would eat the hard ones and I had to throw them away. I now buy them and his Nurtiberries directly from Lafeber. The service is great and the Avi-Cakes are super chewy. Just a reminder to check the dates on your food BEFORE you buy,

Great advice Pat!

Some shops are better than others with this sort of thing. By the way, I try to bring outdated stuff back to the store and make them give me my money back and let the manager know about the problem - it isn't worth it financially but hopeully make them aware of the problem.

chain stores are usually worse than smaller specialty stores, be they brick and mortar or online.
