View Full Version : Stressed out too
I'm in school for court reporting and we have to pass a certain amount of test before we can take the state test. Well, I just typed up a test and missed it by two.
I'm so stressed out and frustrated! :(

That makes 3 of us. (kathy, Dae, and me - lol). The job that provides our main income is ending; we are facing a move in several weeks, and neither of us has the energy to do it (not across town; to another state). My Mother is ill in yet another state. Life just deals rotten cards sometimes, doesn't it? We'll all make it thorough, I'm sure.

I know how that feeling goes. The girl that I was going to get an apartment with next fall backed out on me last night. Unless I can find someone else to live with I can't get my parrotlet anymore since they don't allow pets in my school dorms. I'm stressed and kind of panicking. I can't stand to think that after waiting for so long to get my little fid that I might not be able to have one at all.:(

I hope everything works out for you! Man, moving to another state can be rough. I've never had to do it, but I can only imagine.
Everything will get better though. We just have to tough it out!

Dae, what exactly is court reporting -- what do you do? I think I have a general idea but could be totally wrong since I'm in Canada.
I'm in school to get my Criminology degree and now looking at law school afterwards. I don't know, it's gonna be SO much work though, thinking about it kind of puts me off.
Do you get to rewrite the test whenever you want?

Alyse, that's no good :(
Seriously, I think housing is always a big issue when it comes to pets. Have you tried looking for other roommates? Or in ads where others are looking for a roommate?
Good luck and keep us posted!

That's what I keep telling myself. And looking back, time flies! We'll make it through ;)

A court reporter keeps the record. Meaning that in court we write down everything in steno (short hand) on our little machine and then transcribe it and produce a transcript for the lawers or whoever wants one. We also produce records for depositions.
There's closed captioning too and cart writers. Whenever you watching tv and you see the captioning on the screen a court reporter is doing that. Cart writing is for the hearing impaired, you go with them to school or work, sit next to them and write everything that is being said and they can see it on your laptop in realtime.
If you're studying law, you're going to meet a lot of court reporters.
I only have one shot to pass a single test. Whenever you take the state test you can keep trying until you pass. It's just getting there that's the challenge.
Dae,
don't worry, JFK Jr. took four tries before he passed the NY bar.

Update!
I think I might be about to get a studio apartment by myself so I can get my little baby after all! I'm very excited because I would have been heartbroken to not be able to get a bird after waiting for so long. I've loved birds since I was a little girl and the first time I saw a p'let, I KNEW it was the bird for me and I HAD to have one! Especially seeing all of your birds and the cute pics, I'm even more excited to get one. Especially Chipper and all of her crowns! I loved that Sally! But I do need to warn you, i may be a bit of a competitor for having the most toys for their bird...;) I don't even have a hatched baby yet and I've already gotten SO many! But someone has got to spoil them, right?

I hope everything works out for you and you can get a little p'let. They're a lot of fun! What color/kind do you want?

I'm hoping to get a green pacific but I'm not picky. I just think they are so cute, all colors!

They really are cute and pretty - all colors. Part of it comes down to what is available. I was going to a green pacific male - but couldn't find one. The breeder offered to sell me Bitsy (blue pacific) for the same price I would have pd. for the green. That was so nice!
Musicjan - you had a very nice breeder - I'm sure she saw you as a great home for one of her birds - you got a screaming deal.
The Mutations in the stores here go for double what the Normals go for.
Although I was lucky enough to rescue my P'let - there is a Bird store here that I get most of my supplies from [with the occasional PetsMart stop] that had a beautiful pale blue female I fell in love with - I 'almost' purchased her - but decided to check here first for opinions - actually right now I'm glad I didn't impulse buy PHEW. But the blues are really beautiful.
