My mother buys soy milk for me and my sister. My sister drinks it because it's healthier than milk... I drink it because I can't take dairy with my stomach all too well (I can but I'll be bed ridden for about 2days).

I was just thinking.... Can birds have soy foods like soy milk?

It just crossed my mind when I was drinking and Kiwi wanted a sip.

I'm allergic (not lactose intolerant) to dairy so use soy milk on cereal, etc. I do give the birds a taste of morning oatmeal with a bit of soy milk. They like it. I would be careful not to overdo it, a little bit should be fine.

I feed my guys Edamame(Fresh soybeans in the pod) that we get whenever we order sushi. I that the them out of he pods, cause the pods are really tough.
They love them.

The vanilla soymilk has a lot of sugar in it. Not sure about plain. I'd check the ingredients.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you woman--don't know about allergic though. I just can't take cheese, yogurts, milk... I don't break out in hives or anything, my stomach just feels like there's an impressive bulge pressing upon my mid-abdominal. This also happens when I consume grease, hot/spicy foods, mostly anything that is bad for you. I have medicine though if I wish to eat these foods, sometimes it doesn't literally work though.

~**Phew!! Back to parrotlets! Haha!! Thanks guys for the info. I will be sure to give small servings if Kiwi's interested again. ;)

We have allot of food allergies here, me and my kids. I'm allergic to milk protein and so are my girls. Nick had never been tested, so I was giving him soymilk just because everyone else drank it. He started to get allot of allergic symptoms so I had him tested and guess what, he's allergic to soy....go figure. I get the bloating stuff too if I don't eat real healthy foods. We have been getting allergy shots for 5 yrs. and it REALLY made a difference.

LOL! Go figure, eh? lol!
I'm actually allergic to soy as well. I found this out when I started university. I was drinking soy milk, just for something new in my diet, and I found I was bloated and had an upset stomach. When I talked with my mom, she asked if I had started eating something new. She suggested not drinking the soy milk and two days later I was good. Tried drinking the soy milk a few weeks later and got sick again. lol. Yup allergic to soy. I'm also slightly lactose intolerant as well. If I have too much milk or ice cream I get an upset tummy.
