I was CONSIDERING getting another cage in the future. I would like to anyways. Kai seems happy with his cage, but I know he'd much rather be outside sitting with me... so he basically stays outside his cage the whole when I am home. Unfortunately, when I am at school he is stuck inside his cage... so i think it would be a nice treat if i save up money.

I was wondering what were your guys dimensions? bar spacing? etc. (in inches I guess) and if you have any net links to good places to get cages and/or the links to your cage themselves. Just want to see whats out there.

Paulie likes his cage. It's much wider then tall..I think that works better. We got it at PetsMart but Drs Foster and Smith catalog has it too. And it won't set you back a years pay either.

Pado,

Nice cage, I have the generic, no-frills equivilent (same quality but a simple rectangle. Mine is twice as big though.

RE posting pictures: I have the same problem. I ended up using a photobucket account to link in pictures.

Art,

Thanks for the info, I ended up having to use photo-bucket.

Post a picture of your cage – I’d LOVE to see it – I would actually liked to have gone larger but I think I’d need more than just one P’let to justify it  - so I went with what I figured would be a good home for Mr. Peepers plus one that would kind of blend into the house as a piece of furniture – didn’t really 'blend' :D - as it’s the first thing people mention when they come in – then the next sentence is ‘why such a big cage for such a little bird’

- Non-Bird people, they just don’t ‘Get it’ :p

Your guys must be ecstatic to have that much space.

Pado,

Here is a picture I posted earlier (i think there are others floating around).

http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n10/Suckewer/IMG_1675.jpg

This is the text from a post in another thread:

This is very similar to our cage (probobly the same Chinese manufacturer, just a different brand). The assembly directions were great  , they consisted of a single drawing with a few arrows and no text!

We got ours in 'Charcoal' - it makes it look less imposing.

Memmey,

:D

Pado,

I'm pretty sure that all of these cages are made in the same Chinese factory, most of the extra cost comes from the brand name, the rest comes from how fancy the cage is.

I'm still very happy with my cage. I mage a plexiglass divider, to replace the standard one, so that if I put it in the birds can't bite each others toes through the bars (do you want to guess how I knew to prepare for that... ).

I've used it once when MeMe, the girl, kept kicking Sparky, the boy out of their sleeping area. I put in the divider and moved MeMe to the other side, she was very unhappy but it worked great. I think she learned her lesson, she has been particularly sweet for the past month.

hehehe Memmey, that was VERY funny and so true.:D

Art, how fast do your birds fly?

JUST KIDDING :p

ArtS

Pado,

They are FAST!!! .

If you are aiming your question about them flying into the plexi divider, I thought of that - I have small holes drilled through it,evenly spaced in a diagonal grid pattern, so they can see it.

Oh I don't know, I got it. LOL Your fitting in just perfect around here. Art thinks he's clever messing with me sometimes but I don't pay him any attention.LOL You were joking about how fast they are but I think he has said they really do fly fast and hang on the curtain and take off. Art ,didn't you say that once, don't they fly laps? Oh and about cars well he has the fastest birds ands go look at hobbies he's got the cars too...oh Gosh... but I still get the pickiest eater trophy Mister.LOL

My grandfather was the biggest teaser you ever knew and I was raised loving him picking at me and teasing. I have to be careful that when people can't see your face that they know your playing. It's OK to talk about birds and laugh too!

I think the lighter tone and ability to have fun is one of the nice things about this site besides the good info and opinions.

I try to use the smileys to demonstrate intent but it doesn't always work.

PS. Of course, now that i'm MODERATOR, I'll have to be serious...;)

PPS. I still haven't figured out what my powers are, I'll have to talk to Dave about this...

Sally - I saw the pics of Chippers cage - it sure is a beautiful cage Perfect for all her toys :) - she's very spoiled and quite deservingly so :D

What I didn't take into consideration when purchasing mine was that the top is solid except for (2) two-inch sections on each side of the top dome (that have bars).

So you wouldn't have been able to use the full spectrum light dome you have - I had to purchase a table lamp style spectrum light and shine it sideways through the side of the cage. To me it doesn't seem as productive as shining down from the top like yours but I have to work with what I have but overall I'm pleased with the cage.

You think like me, heh. My cage came with 2 options, but same size. There was a $5 difference for the one with 4 dishes + a divider, but I kept on insisting I wanted the one WITHOUT the divider and with only 2 dishes, even though it was a good deal. My boyfriend was standing beside me like, "It's worth it for $5 -- you get all the extras," and he couldn't figure out why I didn't think that it was more worth it for the money.

I gave in at the end but I told him that it'd be his fault if he ever comes home to another bird, lol.

Pado, I use my light for about three hours each day. Not all day.

hehehe – Kathy, Thats probably his plan :p
Its the first thing that popped into my head when Art mentioned 'Divider'

I'd love to have another P'let but I'm not doing another cage and I would be too afraid they wouldn't get along - but with THAT cage and a DIVIDER - two would be a given :p

- you better keep a close eye on your boyfriend :D

Sally - two hours sounds good.

I do a bit longer as I can't do it from the top shining down - which I would prefer :(

Shining into the cage from the side doesn't hit the entire cage evenly - so when on the far side of the cage I don't think Mr. Peepers is getting the full effect.

I like your set up - it looks really nice ;)

I haven't gotten the lighting yet, but sure want to! Memmey, I know what you mean about the family joking. My Dad was the same way - it makes me smile when I think of his quiet, cynical way of "joking around". However, I do sometimes find that people don't understand. Art's idea of smiley faces is good.
