If so, what are they like in comparison to the parrotlets? I'm considering getting a baby one day down the road after I have bonded and trained my two parrotlets (to be housed separately of course!).

I have a quaker. They are big green chickens! They are a bully though and they will buly smaller brids which could injure them... so I rarely let my quaker out when I have the p'lets out...

quakers are louder to me but don't chatter as much as p'lets do. They like to build and aren't as "playful" as p'lets in my opinion. My quaker prefers to sit and be cuddled... he will play on the plays stand and play with toys, but not to the same degree as the p'lets. My quakers favorite toys are baby raddles and various wood blocks to chew on. He also loves toys that require him to think and that make noise in the process.

I love my quaker very much.

The thing about quakers is they are illegal in some states of the U.S. So you have to take that into consideration if you think you will move.

I have a green Quaker, Cabo. She is a little green chicken! She is afraid of my parrotlets. She is a hoot, loud ,obnoxious, and clucks like a chicken. ( Hubbie taught her that) Since she is very loud she is downstairs while the boys are with me in my office. Cabo is also my manicurist, she hates a hang nail:D

Interesting - thanks, you all! I had read that they were illegal in some states (not mine). My parrotlets are both such fraidy cats. It takes them a long time to not be afraid of a new toy, and really, they rarely play at this point. I think it's just all still so new to them. I had read that quakers were very snuggly and fun.

I was thinking right after getting out of highschool and a few more years of college of getting a sun conure or quaker.

Conures are playful... really playful and act like doofuses, but quakers are love bugs! :) I'm leaning more towards a Sun conure though!! :D ;)

Sun conures are beautiful and supposed to be nice birds, but are they ever loud!! Very piercing, high-pitched screeches. I know it would drive me crazy to have one of those, or a Nanday, same problem. Ringnecks too - I have been at aviaries in front of the Ringnecks, and they hurt my ears!

Sun and Nanday conures are very loud. I have a brown throated conure and he is a sweetheart, great personality and not too loud. He loves to practice his words with me. He's only 15 weeks old and has me totally at his every call!
