My 3-year old niece was watching Toby do his tricks that he's learned since clicker training. Up the ladder and down the ladder (click! treat) Wave, Toby! (click!, treat) Turnaround, Toby! (Click! Treat!)
I put him back in the cage and sat her in front of the TV while I made us some lunch. I walk back towards my room and Toby's cage and I hear the clicker. My niece was pointing it at him and saying "Wave, Toby!" over and over. Toby was just sitting there with his head turned to one side chirping at her. When she looked up and saw me in the room, she says "Aunt Nikki, you need new batteries in the remote. It's not working." :p

The clicker training has worked like a charm so far. He averages learning about a trick every 3 or 4 days that we work on it diligently. So, I guess he's really smarter than I expected from such a little thing.
He looks forward to the training sessions. He's so funny because he gets sooo proud of himself when he actually learns the trick.
A training session for him is one run through the tricks he knows then 5-10 minutes working on a new trick. It's really easy to tell his attention span is over because he goes from the training perch or table to my shoulder and straight to the bag of millet seeds that I use for treats...lol
I try to train him at the same time each evening so he knows when I get home from work that he gets to learn something. He loves it.
I took some pictures of him this morning when we were playing before work. I'll try to get them posted later tonight :)

What a cute story, you'll have to tell it to her when she's older. I bet her parents got a kick out of it.
