Squawk and Howl

hi there. i found your forum because candi33 told me about it. i am a "parrot professional" who specializes in behavior- esp. behavior of companion parrots and their play.
i run a webstore, a parrot services company, and also administer another bird board (http://forums.allthingsfeathered.net). i have a flock of small parrots myself (but sadly, no parrotlets! maybe one day) as well as foster birds coming and going (i do rescue).
my flock is:
Tengu, Black Headed Caique

like all Caiques, she is a total diva, even when picking her nose.
Monkey McBean (aka Bean or Bean Bean), Green Cheeked Conure
http://daniland.phanfare.com/show/external/81445/83631/2073587/file.JPG
she is a typical GCC (they have temprements much like p'lets, tyrant one minute, cuddlebug the next)
Buddy, Nanday Conure

this is Buddy attacking her nemesis, Mr. White. Buddy is a rescue that was found on a freeway overpass. we can only guess her age, and we have had her for twoish years now. she is a total sweetie that has a plucking issue.
Chico, Hahn's Macaw

another rescue. he lived 3.5 years as a semi-neglected pet. we have had him 2ish years. the family did not expose him to many changes or stimulation, and he is one of the most neurotic little birds i've ever had. the vet says he has something like avian OCD- he "flosses" fabric through his beak, making cracks wider and wider and plucks in cycles. right now, he is growing feathers back in.
PJ and Francis, Budgies

these two hennies love to zoom around! they fly for the sheer fun of it. they share a cage and have been with us for 5 years.
Angus, Nanday Conure

Angus is another rescue with a sad story (and a happy ending!). He was criminally neglected and suffered poor nutrition and no vet care. his little body is broken and he has the worst case of osteoporosis the vet has ever seen. he is partially paralyzed, but flies short distances, climbs using his one semi-good foot and beak, and is a happy happy birdie!
so that's about me. looking forward to meeting everyone.
