Is Weeping Fig poisonous or not? I've heard contradictions....

I'm not certain but if in doubt I wouldn't use unless someone comes forward and knows for certain...just a thought.

I have heard it's safe more often than not. However, I'm suspicious of plants with milky sap, even though the edible fig also has milky sap. It's probably okay, but I have never given Ficus benjamina (Weeping Fig) to my birds. Cows and horses eat the leaves around here, and birds nest in the trees.

If you want a house plant that is safe for parrots, I prefer Areca Palm and have one planted in the aviary that gets well chewed. All the palms are safe.

I do believe LindaM has a weeping fig. She lets her birds on it... I have one... I thought it was poisoness, but most of my birds land on it (I still freak out). Still havent had a poison issue yet though, but I am still weary about it.

Weeping Fig = Benjamin Ficus

I've always seen it on the safe lists, never on the harmeful lists.
