Scooter is about 9 weeks old now and I've been feeding him his baby food twice a day. He's been gaining weight and seems to be in perfect health but is completely disinterested in drinking his water. This concerns me because he's starting to eat his regular seed mixture no his own now and not as much of his baby food, which I try to make more on the watery side so that I know he's getting hydrated. Please help! Thanks.

Do you know for sure that he's not drinking? He might well be taking some water when you're not right there. If you're concerned, you might try carefully measuring the water (a syringe would work well) before you put it in the dish, then measure the remaining water when you take it out. I rarely see Cello (or our other parrots) drinking compared to how much I see him eating; I think this is normal. They must have water but drink just a little. Of course, the more watery you make his food, the less he will need to drink.

Yea, I figured he wouldn't drink as much since I was making it watery. I guess I'll keep my eyes open. I'm not sure if I could measure the water because I find that water evaporates fairly quickly where I live. I'll try though. Thanks!

I'm sure he's drinking water but you're just not seeing it.

When I got my first budgie I was concerned that she wasnt eating OR drinking because she just sat there whenever I was around. But she had to have been drinking and eating otherwise she would have died..

Same with max right now, I see him eat all the time, but he rarely drinks throughout the day, but I do catch him drinking occasionally.

I have only seen Sweet Pea drink water twice, I have had her since Dec 8, 2007. She plays in her water on occasion too.

Do you have a seperate dish for bathing?
I was thinking of buying max a birdy bath but I dont know if he would just drink out of his bathing water
