I have been lucky enough to have 5 beatyfull parrotlest babies hatch and make it out of the nest. They left the nest about a week ago, and the first where hatched about 16. January. They still climb back in and spend the night in the nestingbox, but enjoy life outside all days now.
I already have buyers for all of them it seems, but im unsure when they are ready to leave? They are quite shy, and none of them, even the parrents eat when im watching them (they got a big outdoor aviary), so I cant be 100% sure they eat buy themself.
When are parrotles babies normaly ready to leave mom & dad?

maybe someone with breeding experience can chime in here? maybe this comes back to the issue of hand feeding versus parent raising?

As Hollybean said hopefully somebody with breeding experience will answer soon - Although there doesn't seem to be too many members who breed at the moment.
I do know that most breeders who hand feed send their chicks off at about 8 weeks providing they are eating well on their own and maintaining their weight.
With parent raised I haven't heard. I'd assume when the chicks are eating solid foods on their own and being more independent from their parents and again maintaining their body weight.
I have heard with Parrotlets in an Aviary setting if the parents are ready and are set up to nest again the male can become quite aggressive to his offspring - especially the male offspring - he is trying to drive them off so he can set up nesting again and in an Aviary the young really can't go anywhere and this can be a hard and even a dangerous time for them - So this is something to watch for.
