Is plucking common with p'lets? I've seen a few photos lately of plucked birds, and wonder if its something common that I will have to deal with in the future?

Seems to be.

When they're ready to breed, they will pluck themselves or reach other to use the feathers for lining the nest. Often the female will pluck the male's head. Mine seem to pluck each other for the pure joy of it . Originally, the male plucked himself, once he was satified with his appearance he began to work on the female. Now the female plucks the male (usually when he's least expecting it... )
