do parrotlets molt every 4 months?

my guys are 8 months now and I noticed they are a little ruffled lately
and beaker who is normally my best buddy had been chomping down hard
even when I don't approach him... he literally flies over to me and then
lunges for my finger...

I hope it's just a rough molt....
Is there anything else I can do in addition to misting to make him less
cranky? They preen each other all the time so pin feathers don't appear
to be an issue really...

I've never really tracked it - but mine don't have a molting schedule. I think it may have to do with the temperatures in the house, daylight hours etc

Only thing I can think of is to let them bathe or mist them often and increase their protein so they can pop out those feathers :)

I've never had one of mine fly over to bite me ... knock on wood :D

well the funny part is... he's not like swooping in for the kill
he will land on my head or shoulder like normal... and then
climb down to lunge at my thumb near the keyboard

(I also think he really HATES my computer as he has ripped several
keys off the keyboard already--haha)

Now that sounds like something mine would do ... come over all nice like and Lovey and then mix it up :p

Yah, Kiwi was like that when he was molting and was flighted, but it attacked the face a lot more than the fingers.

He bit my ears once and made a gash in it. It hurt. I am so glad he is all over that stage, but the new bird.... Omg. I don't even want to think about it.

But seriously, Kiwi was acting like my mom when she doesnt have Paper towels. LOL
