I read that the average parrotlet weight is 35 grams, but my little guy has never exceeded 33 grams and he is about 6.5 years old. Is he just small or is your parrotlet somewhere in this range?

On a digital food scale, set to grams. He doesn't mind standing on it.

I highly recommend getting a digital scale with grams. Ounces are not appropriate for weighing such light objects. Weighing can help detect sudden weight loss (sickness) before it gets too out of hand.

My vet told me they should be between 30 and 35 grams, 35 being on the heavier side.

My guys are 30 and 32.

ArtS's are probably lighter because they are flighted, and so will expel a lot more energy with their flying. Clipped birds will be heavier because they need to find other ways to work their food off. Which is why you have to be much more careful for diets of clipped birds, and make sure they get lots of exercise.

I'm gonna have to leave that scale by her about a year (lol) and then maybe she will step on it.
