Hi Everyone.

Roxy is getting more comfortable with me now. I can stick my whole hand in her cage when I have food and she will come and eat. She will not step up and any attempt to put my hand (without food) near her and she takes off to the back of the cage.

I openned her cage door and let her come out. She climbed around her cage and tried to fly. Her wings at this point have not grown back so she doesn't fly well. She seemed very happy to be out of the cage. Now as soon as I open the door and step away she will come out.

I have heard that I shouldn't let her come out on her own that she should only come out when "stepped up" on my finger and I bring her out. She will not step up but will come out. Should I continue to let her come out?

Thanks
Denise

That is true with most birds but P'let and quakers get very protective of their cages. With my quakers I allow then to come out on their door and then ask them to step up.
I'm still working with DoodleBug and he'll be stick trained before I ever let him out. That way I can ask him to step on a stick to come out of the cage. And avoid those bites.

Chipper crawls in and out all day. She flies to her tall Tinkertoy playgym and home again, or flies to me. It is fun to go in and out. :)

That's a very impressive playgym Chipper has!
