I'm wondering what other people's parrotlets weigh to determine if mine is at a good weight. He currently weighs 30 grams.

Sally....I think you mean 32 GRAMS. At 2 pounds she would be a bit on the chubby side!

Kiwi is 28 grams and from what I have read Parrotlets normally run between 28-32 grams give or take a gram.

HA, I was changing that when you posted I think! I always mess that up! Yes, that would be a VERY big Parrotlet!

Pip is only about 22 grams right now, but he's still sick, so hopefully he'll put a little more meat on those bones.

Is Pip eating okay for you? So glad to hear from you :) . I've been worried and wondering how our little buddy has been. Please keep us updated on Pip...

At Ike's first vet appointment last week, he weighed 27 grams. He is only 14 weeks, so I am not sure if he will get any bigger.

If you get a cheap kitchen scale it is not very accurate. I also have a baby scale for my little dog. I keep track and write their weights down.

Finn was 24 grams at his vet exam, roughly 12 weeks old.

I was searching on internet for weight of P'lets and funny thing happened this old thread is the only thing that popped up!! Should have came to my first resource first anyway I guess!! LOL! :)

Anyway- Jose is consistantly gaining 2 grams every week- he started out at 25 grams when he came home and is now 29 grams, the scale I have is very accurate.. is this normal? He is 9 weeks old.
Thanks Joyce

My 17 week old male is a tiny 20 grams. He is perfectly healthy and eats everything I give him so I no longer worry that he is little.

I use a digital postal scale that I use for calculating accurate postage. It weighs in grams and ounces. It's very accurate. I got it at Sam's Club, but I know there are many other places to get scales like Staples or Costco.

I now use a little food bowl with treats for them to stand on while being weighed. The hopped off too quickly most of the time without something to stand on. I weigh the bowl with treats first, tare out the scale (zero out), and then I let them perch on the bowl. This way I only get the bird's weight and not the bowl or the treats.

We got our digital scale at the grocery store, about $15.00, and it seems very accurate (same readings at home and at the vet). Agave is usually 28 grams, occasionally she's at 26 but then pops right back up.

Bodie weighs 28 grams in the morning and before bedtime he can weight 29-30. He is 12 years old and flighted. He burns everything he eats. I wish I could do that.
